The tog rating of a duvet is essentially a measure of how effectively a duvet insulates heat, the higher the tog rating on a duvet the warmer it will be. 4.5 tog rated duvets are used in the summer months when the weather is warm to prevent any overheating and 15 tog duvets are used in the winter to give more insulation when the weather is cold and frosty
